I want to see the progress of your list poems. I once wrote a poem about the contents of my son's pocket. It was just an exercise, but it felt comfortable to pick a topic I know so well. It became something more because I connected each item to what he might become when he grows up. Most poems have some sort of listing. It is the detail work that poems need to provide images and meaning. Look in the poem "Mushrooms" by Sylvia Plath that I handed out in class. Can you find listing? How about in the Poem "The Blue Booby" by James Tate or "Sex without Love" by Sharon Olds? You will find it everywhere.
So let's see what you got. I am excited to hear from you.

For my 9th graders only!!!!
Okay, guys. It is time for you to try this out! I want you to write your "My Name" pieces that we wrote in class as a post to me here. I want others to be able to see the incredible work you have done. I also want you to tell me and each other what you thought about this assignment. Did it teach you anything new, or did it make you realize anything about writing, or about yourself?
Let me and each other know!!

Sestinas 2X
I would really like to post some of your sestina work on here. Does anyone know how? Help if you know.
Also - I loved your comments!! - Jenn Heng - you are insightful!. Kyle - you'd never know that you thought that sestinas "sucked" because yours turned out so well. Others seem to agree. My other class will be chiming in tonight, so you can all become like a community of Feole's writers!!! How cool is this? I am in love with technology for just this very moment!
Thanks for responding.

For my writing students - a little job
Tonight I would like to hear from you and what you think about this process of writing sestinas. So just for a moment, write to me, or to comments of another in our classes, and express your frustrations, success, desire, likes, dislikes, etc... about sestinas. What have you learned about yourself in the process? Do you like one specific one that you read? Who's was it? What was it about? What made it stand apart from the rest.
You know, this is a first for me, this whole blogging thing, and I really want to make it work. So WRITE!
